at the cooper hewitt national design museum, guest curator david adjaye selects textiles and hats from the permanent collection.  a 10′-0″ tall self supported aluminum “armature” is placed in the center of the room, displaying various textiles from africa.  the elliptical geometry of the armature mimics the ornate details of the existing walls and ceiling.  hats occupy each corner niche complementing the center structure.
