at the cooper hewitt national design museum, guest curator esperanza spaulding selects objects from the permanent collection as well as fabricating her own interpretive installations.  deconstructed piano parts are displayed throughout the room in unique moments, such as piano keys and wires that run from a platform up a wall, a “ribbon” laminated with strips of piano veneer that weaves thru objects on a platform, and dense collages of piano hammers.
