shelby house

los altos, ca
3859 s.f.
completed 2012

the design intention of this project was to reinterpret, reorganize, and modernize an existing (2) story colonial single family house.  a walnut “cabinet core” is the organizing element that not only houses specific program elements (entry, workstation, playroom, office, circulation, and storage), but visually organizes the house with continuous omnipresent floor to ceiling material.  a series of skylights strategically punctuate design moments in the house.
